Last night we all traveled back to the 90’s to celebrate @amandakaythomas turning 30! @previnthomas pulled off the best surprise party 👏🏻

A core memory from a few months ago that needs to live permanently on the grid 💗

What a joy yesterday was! Our sweet girl was one o

What a joy yesterday was! Our sweet girl was one of the narrators for her school Kindergarten play in chapel. They all performed the story of Saul’s transformation.

Knowing that she walked into Kindergarten barely able to read, only to see her up there yesterday reading these long sentences proudly and confidently into a microphone in front of an audience! My goodness.

I know I’ve mentioned before that I have struggled this year with her leaving the nest into full-time school already. There was a lot of grief for me with that transition. In many ways I find myself almost resenting her growth at times. It seemed to constantly remind me of the pain that we don’t have more kids in our family and that she’s becoming more and more independent. And so as much as I celebrate her beautiful milestones, I’ve wrestled with the surprising grief that often comes from them too.

But yesterday.

Yesterday felt like just pure joy. Like I could see this wonderful season of Kindergarten for what it has been, and just be so grateful for it. For her teachers, her school, her development this year, and her excited, confident spirit about how far she’s come.

In this moment I just felt peace. Peace about our family and where we’re at right now. Peace about her being a big Kindergartener, now almost a first grader. Even while we wait for more. I felt so much joy. And gratitude.

There will be grief again another day. But on this day…

This day was just lovely.
